Recruitment

People, are our most valuable resource. We at St Mary’s, want to have the best possible team in order to offer the best possible care for our residents.

We have a dedicated training co-ordinator to ensure training needs are met.  Through a mixture of on the job training, an induction programme and in house training we can help you enhance your skills.  Outside agencies also provide training for instance first aid, fire training and continence. E learning is also encouraged as part of your CPD.  (known as Continual Professional Development).

To that end we are always looking to recruit hardworking, caring, enthusiastic staff to help us provide that best possible care.
Essentially you must have a caring nature, provide understanding, empathy and emotional support as well as physical help around the home. Your communication skills must be of a high standard.

Please see section below for other requirements.  For all positions in the Care Home you will be required to undergo a criminal record check with Volunteer Scotland.

                 SSSC
It is a requirement for care staff to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). This is currently an annual cost to the employee of £25.00.
Continued registration requires you to attend current and relevant training that will be provided by the employer. You are required to keep a record of this as the SSSC could ask you for this at any time.

                  SVQ 2

In order to be fully registered with the SSSC, you must have or be able to gain a Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) Level 2 in Health & Social Care. Depending on the funding available at the time, candidates may have to pay for this.

You can be employed without this qualification, but you will have a time constraint placed on you to gain the qualification.
VOLUNTEER SCOTLAND
For employees working with Vulnerable Adults a criminal record check must be completed.  This is known as membership of PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) scheme. This is carried out by Volunteer Scotland.  All candidates will have to pay for this check to be done.
